F1virtual statement on sales of GP4 mods and add-ons

Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 4 has now surpassed 20 years from its initial launch, yet mods and add-ons keep being published to this day, such as those we share here at F1virtual. While most of the community is happy to share their modifications free of charge, it is not rare to find those works for sale under various means.

It is widely known that Grand Prix 4 is not an easy game to customize by modern standards, and buying ready-to-play packages can seem attractive to some users. However, those packages are often compiled without consent from the original authors of each individual modification (car, skin, track, etc.) and frequently those individual items are maliciously altered in order to hide the fact that the seller is not the author and that there is no such consent.

We at F1virtual are aware that some add-on packages available for sale include tracks freely available at our website, modified or not. We strongly discourage buying such packages. F1virtual does not authorize the sale of its works in any form, modified or not; and F1virtual is not associated in any way with people who sell those packages, nor receives any share of profit from the sales.

Our work at F1virtual is a work of pure passion for the game, done in the free time of each of the various people involved. It has always been and it will always be available for everyone free of charge, without any form of restriction.
